OUTSIDE THE CITY OF PITEÅ, IN THE NORTHERN PART OF SWEDEN, IS MARKBYGDEN LOCATED. IT IS AN AREA WHERE FEW PEOPLE LIVE AND WITH GOOD WINDS, MAKING IT AN EXCELLENT LOCATION FOR WIND POWER. HERE SVEVIND ARE PLANNING ONE OF THE LARGEST WIND PARKS IN EUROPE, WITH A TOTAL OF UP 1101 WIND TURBINES.

Markbygden project is one of Europes largest industrial project. 

WHEN FULLY REALIZED, MARKBYGDEN WILL PRODUCE ABOUT 10 TWH PER YEAR. THAT EQUALS 6.6% OF THE TOTAL ELECTRICITY PRODUCTION IN SWEDEN.

10 TWH IS ENOUGH ENERGY TO SUPPORT ABOUT 400 000 HOUSEHOLDS FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR.

MARKBYGDEN COVERS AN AREA OF APPROXIMATELY 450 KM2, WHICH IS MORE THAN TWICE THE SIZE OF STOCKHOLM MUNICIPALITY.

PILOT PHASE
The first step in realizing Markbygden was to build smaller pilot projects, namely Dragaliden and Stor-Blåliden
